Three million Australians are living with anxiety or depression and beyondblue is working to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in the community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.
This year the event will have an entourage of close to 200 people driving around the countryside in brightly coloured cars. Some of the cars are more than 50 years old.
For event director, Peter Fehon and his wife Trish, the journey is personal, having lost their 16-year-old daughter, Beth, to suicide in 2005.
The cars will travel about 1500 kms in four days, travelling through iconic local areas including:
Bathurst, Sofala, Hargraves, Gulgong, Coolah, Dunedoo, Dubbo, Warren, Tottenham, Trundle, Parkes, Bogan Gate, Condobolin, Forbes, Gooloogong, Orange.
The HireExpress Beyond Bitumen Rally will contribute significantly to local communities as it passes through town. Local P&C’s will be providing meals to the hungry, and thirsty, tourists. There will be a large presentation dinner and auction night in Forbes on Sunday Night.
The Rally will finish in Orange on Monday afternoon March 26th 2018.
By the end of the event, Peter and the team expect to have raised at least $300,000 for beyondblue. The Rally is the largest single fundraising event for beyondblue.
