The youth, who cannot be named, fronted Magistrate Paul Hayes on Wednesday morning and faces charges of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, robbery armed with offensive weapon, and enter building with intent to commit serious indictable offence.
Police will allege the teen broke into the home and threatened the 90-year-old male occupant with a knife before leaving with $510.
Detectives arrested the youth at an Alcheringa Street address on Tuesday afternoon after forensic evidence pointed them to him.
In court on Wednesday, the boy unsuccessfully applied for bail, with Magistrate Hayes citing the nature of the alleged offences, the strength of the prosecution, the boy’s prior criminal record and the risk of further offending as reasons.
The matters will be back before the court on May 7.
