Australian Hearing were on hand at Sunday’s Rotunda Markets conducting free hearing screening, and will be out and about all week to promote the importance of looking after hearing at any age.
Tooraweenah’s Dan Harte was pleased to learn he had perfect hearing, despite using guns, and loud machinery on the Emu Logic emu farm.
Australian Hearing Dubbo centre manager Debbi Amos said it was vital people used protection when exposed to continuous, loud noises, as hearing damage could affect everything from balance to cardiovascular health.
“They should even wear hearing protection when they’re mowing the lawn, whipper-snipping,” she said.
“Because you miss the kids talking to you, you miss the punchline of jokes, there’s so much you miss.”
Australian Hearing will be offering free screening throughout the week at their Cobra Street centre, and at the following locations:
- Monday 11am until 3pm, Mudgee Mall
- Tuesday, 9.30am until 2pm, Tim Koerstz Pharmacy
- Thursday, 9am until 3pm, Orana Mall
- Friday, 9am until 2pm, Church Street Rotunda
