Police have charged three men and executed six search warrants following an investigation into the distribution of prohibited drugs in the Mudgee area.

In September 2017, officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District formed Strike Force Atony and Strike Force Woolwash to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs with the assistance of officers from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad.
At about 6.30pm on Tuesday, police executed two search warrants in Mudgee; at a property in Gladstone Street and a storage unit in Sydney Road.
Officers seized approximately 700 ecstasy tablets tablets, cannabis leaf, mobile phones, ammunition eight ounces of methylamphetamine.
Orana Mid-Western Police District Commander, Superintendent Peter McKenna said the street value of the methylamphetamine was approximately “$90,000 of street deals removed from the community.”
“It’s a very successful outcome for us, worked on tirelessly by detectives and staff attached to the Orana Mid-Western Police District, with assistance from the state crime command’s organised crime squad,” he said.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mudgee Police Station where he was charged with supply commercial quantity of MDMA, possess commercial quantity of MDMA, possess cannabis and possess ammunition.
He was refused bail and appeared before Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday, February 21 2018. The man was refused bail and is due to appear before the same court on Wednesday, May 9 2018.
On Thursday officers executed search warrants at properties in Bruce and Wilbetree roads, Mudgee.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Bruce Street and taken to Mudgee Police Station.
He was charged with knowingly take part in supply commercial quantity of prohibited drugs, two counts of possess prohibited drug, possess ammunition without holding licence, and not keep firearms safe.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Mudgee Local Court on Friday.
A storage unit in Mudgee, and a property in Gollan Road, Goolma was also searched.
Police seized a firearm, ammunition, methylamphetamine and several items suspected of being stolen.
A 49-year-old man was arrested in Goolma and taken to Mudgee Police Station.
He was charged with nine offences, including:
- Supply prohibited drug greater than indictable quantity
- Breach firearm prohibition order (x2)
- Possess unauthorised firearm
- Not keep firearms safe
- Possess ammunition
- Receive stolen property (x2)
- Goods in custody suspected of being stolen (x2)
The man was refused bail and appeared before Dubbo Local Court on Friday.
Superintendent McKenna said the Orana Mid-Western district would continue to crack down on drug offenders.
“Drug supply is a focus for us at the moment. We know property crime and personal violence often has that cause and effect of drug supply,” he said.
“Drug supply at any rate is something that is significant across all communities and we are targeting it.”
