From Monday, the street will be closed at the intersection of Wheelers Lane. Boundary Road will be a no through road from Rosella Street eastwards.
The closure is to enable the construction of a new roundabout and traffic islands at the intersection. It’s part of the Boundary Road Extension project.
Dubbo Regional Council director infrastructure and operations Chris Devitt said the extension was the first step in developing essential infrastructure to support an expected increase in the city’s population.
“Ultimately, the full extension will be 1.61 kilometres of new arterial road servicing South East Dubbo,” Mr Devitt said.
“When fully completed Boundary Road will extend from Wheelers Lane through to Sheraton Road and will facilitate access to Keswick and Southlakes estates, as well as alleviate traffic congestion and increase safety for pedestrians and vehicles.”
When fully completed [the extension will] alleviate traffic congestion and increase safety for pedestrians and vehicles.

Stage One will include an extension from Wheelers Lane to Alexandrina Avenue. The first stage will involve a fully kerbed two lane road with integrated cycle lanes and 600 metres of piped stormwater drainage, as well as the new roundabout and an adjacent footpath.
The first stage of the project has been funded from a $4 million Restart NSW Housing Acceleration Fund grant.
Stage Two will be a continuation of the road and footpath, in addition to another roundabout at the intersection of Boundary and Sheraton roads. The timing and construction of Stage Two is dependant on funding availability and council’s capital work prioritisation.
During the road closure an extensive traffic management plan will be in place, including road restrictions around construction sites.
Council apologises for any inconvenience during the closure. Anyone with questions should contact council’s customer service centre on 6901 4000.
