In fact, with the regular double features, the annual film festival and the Latin American film festival, subscribers will be able to enjoy more 20 films for less than the price of a coffee per film.
“We’re trying to make is as easy and affordable as possible for the Dubbo public to enjoy the best of Australian and world cinema,” society president Steve Clayton said.
The group is set to kick off its 2018 season on Sunday at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre with an inspirational coming-of-age drama from Finland, a heart warming Australian comedy, and an internationally recognised, locally-made short film.
The first feature will be the Golden Globe Award nominated, The Fencer, an international co-production set in Estonia in the 1950s.
The second feature film for the evening will be the Australian comedy, Ali’s Wedding. Empire magazine has called Ali’s Wedding “the best Aussie film since The Castle”. Based on actual events, Ali's Wedding is about Ali who, after failing to meet family expectations and achieving the required marks to enter a medical degree, decides to lie about his failure.
This will be the the first time the people of Dubbo will have the opportunity to see this Festival of Sydney Audience Award winner on the big screen.

“We’re committed to bringing the people of Dubbo quality films beyond the mainstream line of box office films”, Mr Clayton said.
The session will also screen the locally made short film, Space, which was recently screened as part of the official selection at the Short and Sweet Film Festival in Utah, USA. There will also be a Q&A with the filmmakers and cast.
Just like previous years, Dubbo film lovers have the option to buy either a season subscription for over 20 films over the year or tickets to individual screenings. However, this year the society has added online payment options for subscribers.
“We’ve listened to the feedback and we’re pleased to now be able to offer a number of different payment methods,” Mr Clayton said. “As well as cash and cheque, we are now able to accept online direct debit and credit card payments.”
