Dont Think Twice ($2.10 favourite) was untouchable in the Orange CYMS Group 10 Rugby League Cup (2,260 metres), notching up her sixth straight win on the Bathurst track.
A mare with Group 1 success to her name was always going to be hard to contain, and the Brooke Wilkins trained contender never looked in danger of missing out on another Bathurst triumph.
Redbelly Jack ($7.80) won the fight for second place in a photo finish ahead of Taylors Reason ($5.80) but the pair were 13m adrift of a champion mare who did it easily.
Karloo Threeothree, trained at Dubbo by Barry Lew, struggled to find space for much of the race but came home well and finished fourth.
The win gave Wilkins and driver Jason Grimson back-to-back wins at Bathurst after they won the previous race with Ima Jaymar.
“She was really good today. She’s done a really good job for us here [at Bathurst],” Grimson said of Dont Think Twice.
“She’s in great form at the moment. We needed to give her a run somewhere and we thought this was the perfect race for her. We’ll probably aim her for the Wagga Cup and the Young Cup.
“Unfortunately she didn’t get a start in the Ladyship Mile [at Menangle this Saturday]. Next year she’ll be right up to that class. She’s still only a four-year-old at the moment.”
At the green light it was the recent Golden Guitar winner Redbelly Jack who got away strongest out of gate three to take the lead.
Dont Think Twice started his move from middle of the pack as the field made their way across the back straight for the first time.
Grimson and his mare easily crossed to the front as they entered the turn.
Rocknroll Angel continued to enjoy a run behind Redbelly Jack. Sabrage, who had been stuck four wide in the early stages, led the outside line.
As the field received the bell Lockton Luck got to the death seat and drew level with the favourite heading onto the back straight for the second time.
Lockton Luck faded on the turn for home but there was no issues whatsoever for Grimson on the leader.
When he asked his mare to go she delivered the goods.
Dont Think Twice, metre by metre, began to put plenty of distance between herself and the rest of the field over the final 200m.
Redbelly Jack and Taylors Reason were left to fight over the minors while Karloo Threeothree produced a strong finish.
The win for Dont Think Twice takes her earnings from Bathurst races alone to over $93,000.
Racing returns to Bathurst this Wednesday with an eight race meeting.
