Dunedoo Lions Club cancelled the art show, running annually since 2008, and launched an appeal with all donations going to people in “their hour of greatest need”.
But a year on from the devastating bushfire, Art Unlimited is returning “with a flourish”.
Art Unlimited spokeswoman Penny Stevens reports that “the spotlight will fall on photography at Dunedoo’s acclaimed arts festival”.
She said a highlight of the event would be a weekend photography workshop led by award-winning photographer, designer and educator Jenet Stewart of Dubbo.
This workshop, on May 19 and 20, will provide an opportunity for photographers to learn about ways to take their skills to a new level.

“Photography has always been an important category in Art Unlimited, with large numbers of entries competing for the $3000 prize,” Ms Stevens said.
“This workshop, on May 19 and 20, will provide an opportunity for photographers to learn about ways to take their skills to a new level.”

Ms Stevens said the workshop would be “suitable for photographers of all levels of proficiency”.
“It will cover topics that range from understanding camera settings and their manipulation, to composing portrait photography using natural light, flash and studio lighting,” she said. “Landscape photography composition will include a location shoot. There will also be a critiquing and editing session.”
Places in the Art Unlimited photography workshop are limited to 15 and are “filling fast”.
“Participants need a DSL or equivalent camera, and ideally, different lenses, light metre, tripod and reflector,” Ms Stevens said.
“If these are not readily available, Jenet will provide some on loan.”
Cost for the two-day course is $260 and bookings can be made at www.artunlimitednsw.com.au.
The photography workshop follows opening night on May 18 with tickets also available from the website.
Art Unlimited is a 10-day event that traditionally draws about 500 entries from across Australia.
More than $11,000 worth of prizes are on offer across the shows’s three categories of hanging art, photography and ceramics.
