CYMS junior Ellis has spent the off-season training with the Panthers NRL squad after coming through the under 20s and NSW Cup grades, winning premierships in both competitions.
He has been named in Penrith’s 26-man squad for Saturday night’s trial clash with the Sydney Roosters, alongside Yeo, Peachey and Lithgow young gun Wade Egan.
Ellis will be battling the likes of fellow forwards James Tamou, Tim Browne, Viliame Kikau, Trent Merrin, Sam McKendry and James Fisher-Harris for game time.
Elsewhere, Coonamble’s Braidon Burns has been named in the South Sydney squad which takes on the visiting Wigan Warriors on Saturday night. That match is live on Fox Sports.
