In 2018 the competition includes a category for professional photographers who have been champing at the bit to get involved.
Another new category, 20 Years of Life and Light, is open to photographs that have been entered in the competition across the past 19 years.
The 20 Years of Life and Light category does not have to fit with the competition’s 2018 theme of What makes our outback special?

The annual contest is run jointly by Western Local Land Services (LLS) and Western Landcare NSW.
Photographers across NSW and interstate enter the competition but all their photos are taken in the Western LLS.
“The highly-regarded photo competition represents a great opportunity for photographers of all abilities to capture the beauty, diversity and uniqueness of the western region, and the people and flora and fauna that live in it,” reports Western Landcare coordinator Henry Gregory.
The 10 categories in the 2018 contest include open aged-colour, secondary school student - colour, primary school student - colour, open age - black and white, secondary school student - black and white, primary school student - black and white, digitally enhanced, professional, 20 Years of Life and Light, and people’s choice. All entries are automatically entered into the last category.
Entries for the 2018 Life and Light Photo Competition will be accepted up until March 31.
Like 2017, all photos must be submitted through www.lifeandlight.com.au, which also provides competition information, answers to frequently-asked questions and entry rules.
Prize money of $5400 is up for grabs in 2018. This year’s competition winners will be announced at Agfair in Broken Hill on May 4.
