Skipper Peter Kirwan says the upset win can lead his side into the 2018 finals.
Kirwan’s side plays Parkes at Bathurst in round two on Sunday full of confidence.
“To beat Bathurst, it was a good upset for us,” he said.
“We always seem to get them first up, too. Our team, it’s been the same team for a number of years and most of the guys don’t golf a lot.
“To beat Bathurst is a fantastic effort.”
While Cowra’s clash with Parkes headlines the poll B matches at Orange’s Wentworth Golf Club this weekend, Dubbo takes on Duntryleague in a bumper clash.
Both won last weekend, Dubbo catching the eye in an impressive 4-1 win over Wentworth.
The other pool A match sees defending champions Mudgee open its campaign with a match against Wellington.
