Officers attached to the Orana Mid-Western district are continuing to search for the 37-year-old, who allegedly stole a Ford Ranger and led police on a wild chase through the Dubbo, Gulgong and Mudgee areas last Thursday.
Information from the public, including suspected sightings, have led police to believe Biffin is still in the Mudgee district.
“He needs to be dealt with and he needs to be in custody, and I would encourage anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact police so we can make that happen,” Supt McKenna said.
“We’re putting things in place that we hope will lead to his capture, and we’re following up all leads.
“At the same time we’re still appealing for anyone with information to come forward with it.”
Biffin was initially captured last Wednesday evening when police responded to reports of two stolen vehicles being located parked on the side of Lue Road outside of Mudgee.
He and another man allegedly left a Holden Statesman behind and drove off in a utility towards Mudgee.
Another pursuit was initiated through Mudgee later that evening after the men were located travelling in a silver Mitsubishi Pajero.
It is alleged the men drove onto a fire trail near Lowes Peak Road, Saint Fillans, before driving through paddocks and crashing into a deep storm channel.
The men were taken to Dubbo Hospital with minor injuries but on Thursday morning Biffin escaped from the hospital, allegedly stole a car and headed for the Mudgee area.
With police of the opinion Biffin is still in the region, Supt McKenna said there would also be consequences for anybody who may be aiding him during his time at large. “If we discover people are hiding him or assisting, they will find themselves charged and being dealt with through the courts as well,” Supt McKenna said.
“Our advice is for people to not approach him. He’s wanted for a reason so if you do suspect something report it to police.” Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Mudgee Police Station on 6372 8599.
