Become a Book Mate
Book clubs are a great way to meet people, celebrate a love of reading, and broaden your literary horizons.
The library Book Mates Book Club meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 2pm, with the next meeting on Tuesday 6 February. Everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy a lively discussion and discover what the people of Dubbo are reading. Book Mate members review and discuss individual books they have read, so you may just discover a new author or new title to add to your reading list.
If you are part of an existing book club in the community you can borrow Book Club Kits from the library. These kits contain everything your book club requires for a great discussion in one convenient bag. Choose from a great range of titles from classics to modern day best sellers. Simply register your club at the library to get started.
Knit One, Purl One
Studies show that knitting has many benefits for both the mind and the body. The rhythmic, repetitive motion and relaxation can have the same benefits as a meditation session. It also helps improve motor function, stimulates the brain and slows cognitive decline. Plus, you end up with a cosy creation to keep.
Sit’n’Knit meets at the library on the first Saturday of each month from 11am-1pm. The first Sit’n’Knit for 2018 will be Saturday 3 February. Don’t know a knit from a purl? You don’t need to be an expert to come along. People of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend!
