The Peter Nestor-trained Danish Lace ($1.65 favourite), part-owned by 102-year-old Jeff Perry, got to the lead early and then shot away to score a convincing win by more than six lengths.
It wasn’t the only highlight for Nestor at Gilgandra either, as up-and-comer Legerity broke the track record over 1200m later in day.
Danish Lace’s victory was yet another another impressive one with apprentice hoop Kaylee Kirkwood, who has enjoyed plenty of success with the mare, in the saddle.
Danish Lace now has eight wins and 14 placings from 33 starts. On Sunday, she beat home Sammi Jain (Eleanor Webster-Hawes, $26) and Cyclone Andy (Tony Cavallo, $91).
Legerity’s win came in the last event of the day, the Gilgandra Toyota Class 2 Plate (1200m).
The four-year-old was dominant with Cavallo in the saddle, cruising to victory by almost four lengths from Eagles Dare (Ken Dunbar, $16) and Cosmic Reign (Mathew Cahill, $2.30 favourite).
Legerity, paying $2.60 on Sunday, now has two wins in three starts since moving to Nestor’s stables from those of Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes.
