Dubbo is the pilot site for a state-wide roll out of a digital licence in late-2018 and feedback is being sought from those participating in the scheme. The aim is for about 3000 people to sign up for the trial.
Applications for the trial will remain open until January 21.
Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said the service was safe and convenient to use.
“The beauty of a digital driver licence is you can’t lose it. If you lose your card you have to get a new one but a digital licence is virtual so even if you lose your phone, you can load it on you new one, or even log in on a friend’s phone.”
As well as presenting it to police, the digital licence can also be used at: Milestone Hotel, Western Star Hotel, Castlereagh Hotel, Commercial Hotel, Pastoral Hotel, Amaroo Hotel, Westside Hotel, Garden Hotel and Macquarie Inn.
Residents of the 2830 postcode can register for the trial at service.nsw.gov.au.
