The Dubbo Aquatic and Lesiue Centre will be a hive of activity this week as the best young water polo players in the state converge for the 2017/18 NSW Under 14 Girls Championships.

This marks the second year in a row Dubbo has played host to an elite junior event, following the success of the boys under 14s titles here last December.
Thirteen teams from all over NSW will take part in the tournament, with the first match being played from 11am on Monday.
The competition runs every day this week with the finals to be held on Friday.
There will be two UNSW Wests Killer Whales sides, Black and Yellow teams, as well as two sides from the SNB Breakers, Blue and White, and also two Sydney Uni teams, Gold and Blue, and two ACU Cronulla Sharks sides, Black and Blue.
The teams competing are the Canberra Dolphins, UTS Balmain Tigers Gold, Ryde Rhinos and the Hunter Hurricanes.
As well as the top-level competition, Water Polo NSW and Macquarie Sports will also be delivering a free Water Polo clinic on Tuesday morning from 9am.
The clinic will involve an enjoyable and fun experience with team building, learning basic water polo skills and the incorporation of modified games. In a major coup, Olympians will be running the session and will allow opportunities for questions and photos.
“With last year’s big push to the Central West, it’s great to be following up this year with an event at Dubbo,” WPNSW Events Coordinator Ethan Rogers said.
“It’s wonderful that we can show our support for the region and help gain awareness for the Dubbo Water Polo Club.”
Due to the fact there will be hundreds of people in attendance for the Championships, the pool’s opening hours to the public have been affected.

Monday 18 December 2017
- 5.30am – 8am, normal 50m swimming club training and general public lap swimming available
- 8am – 8.30pm, 50m pool closed for Water Polo Championships
- 5.30am – 8.30pm, leisure pool available for children under 10 years of age pending maximum capacity being reached
Tuesday 19 December 2017
- 5.30am – 8am, 25m general public lap swimming available in shallow end (no lane ropes).
- 8am – 8.30pm, 50m pool closed for Water Polo Championships
- 5.30am – 8.30pm, leisure pool available for children under 10 years of age pending maximum capacity being reached
Wednesday 20/Thursday 21 December 2017
- 5.30am – 8am, 25m general public lap swimming available in shallow end (no lane ropes).
- 8am – 6pm, 50m pool closed for Water Polo Championships
- 6pm – 8.30pm, shallow end of 50m Pool available for general public recreation swimmers.
- 5.30am – 8.30pm, leisure pool available for children under 10 years of age pending maximum capacity being reached
Friday 22 December 2017
- 5.30am – 8am, 25m general public lap swimming available in shallow end (no lane ropes).
- 8am – 4pm, 50m pool closed for Water Polo Championships
- 4pm – 8.30pm, normal access to 50m pool for swimming club training and the general public recreation swimmers.
- 5.30am – 8.30pm, leisure pool available for children under 10 years of age pending maximum capacity being reached
