During Term 3 Dubbo South Public School’s inquiry-based learning classes took part in the Statistical Society of Australia - National Schools Poster Competition in collaboration with the University of NEwcastle.
The activity involved teams of two to five students creating an informative poster presentation based on the collection and interpretation of data towards addressing a practical research question.
When the results were announced, students from Dubbo South’s 3-4T and 3/4D classes won the Year 3-4 division overall with three winners and two honourable mentions.
In the Year 5-6 division students from the school’s 5-6L class received one win and one honourable mention.
With an overall total of 953 students Australia-wide submitting posters, Dubbo South had 21 students receive national recognition in the competition.
Dubbo South Public reports its encourages 21st century learning skills, collaboration, deep thinking and the development of student ability to analyse, reason and evaluate.
