Rugby moved back into top spot after downing Macquarie last round and Saturday sees a clash with a Tigers outfit which suffered a heavy loss to RSL-Colts last time out.
Despite being wooden-spooners last season and then losing Australian Country Cricket player Jordan Moran to injury early in the campaign, Rugby hasn’t been rattled and with captain Nathan Munro leading the charge they have maintained a title charge.
The depth has been a positive with key men Munro and James O’Brien well supported by the likes of Adrian Carey, Jacob Hill, Ben Wheeler and Aidan Bennewith.
All have been named for Saturday’s match, along with Ben Taylor and Jacob Bruce.
The Tigers will be boosted by the return of Jordan Peacock, he was on Orana Outlaws duty last weekend, and he will be vital to the side’s hopes.
Few expected Newtown to do so well without injured duo Mat and Steve Skinner while Bailey Edmunds is also currently out due to suspension.
But with Peacock, Dan Holland and Wayne Dunlop contributing the Tigers sit in fourth spot after three wins and two rain-affected draws.
How those three fair against Rugby’s new-ball bowlers will be key.
Saturday’s 45-over one-day match at No. 1 starts at 1pm.
