While much of the focus is on the Mayor’s Cup feature, some promising types will be going around in the Cold Rock Ice Cream Dubbo Stakes (516m).
The Charmaine Roberts-trained Give Us Peace has already created plenty of hype, taking out Dubbo Greyhound Racing Club’s Lesley Ann Leonard Memorial series while she also ran fourth in Monday’s Solders Saddle final at Bathurst.
Little Digger, from the Forbes kennels of leading trainer Raymond Smith, finished second in the Saddle feature who already has a victory at Wentworth Park on his resume.
Paul Braddon will have a chance in the Cold Rock event as well, with Cruize’s Magic having to overcome the tricky draw of box six while the Robert Ryan-trained Divorce Me showed some promise when winning at Gunnedah two starts back.
The Cold Rock Ice Cream Dubbo Stakes is the fifth race on the card.
Friday night’s meeting kicks off a bust Christmas and New Years period at Dawson Park with meetings also to be held on December 22 and 29 as well as New Year’s Eve while the first races of 2018 will be held on January 5.
