The Cougars were convincing winners in the top-of-the-table clash, downing the Hornets by 98 runs.
It was again another strong all-round effort from CYMS, with the consistent Heath Larance (41), captain Ben Williams (42), Nathan Hawke (38) and Dan Egodawatte (36 not out) helping set up a total of 5/233.
Saad Khan was a standout for Souths, taking 2/24 from his nine overs, while another highlight was seeing Greg Rummans (1/27 from seven) bowl multiple overs for the first time this millennium.
Cal Braithwaite (2/18) and Egodawatte (1/25) reduced Souths to 3/20 and the Hornets were always on the back foot from there.
Ed Knight chipped in with 29 but the run rate became an issue. Josh Thompson took 3/17 from nine overs and that took the game away from the Hornets, who were all out for 135.
The focus at Lady Cutler 3 was on an injured Jordan Moran making a comeback for Rugby but it was the side’s bowlers which stole the show against Macquarie.
New ball bowlers Adam Richards (2/11) and Troy Tracey (2/24) were backed up by Jayden Blake (3/14) and Ben Rosenbaum (3/16) as Macquarie was rolled for just 65.
Ian Marchant was the only batsman to make double figures, finishing with 29.
Despite Rugby falling to 2/4 it was a routine chase with Koda Sissian (31 not out) and Moran (31 not out) reaching the target in 17th over.
RSL-Colts continued its march up the ladder and moved into third with a 41-run win over Newtown.
After winning the toss and batting, Colts posted 8/175 thanks largely to the efforts of Nathan Finlay (49) and a late 44 from Tyler Spang.
Dan Flannery and Nathan Merchant took two wickets each for the Tigers, who slumped to 2/5 in reply.
It didn’t get better from there and at 6/63 the Tigers were headed for a heavy loss but number 11 Alex Sambrook top-scored with 27 to get his side to 134.
Sam Bass (2/14 from six) was one of four bowlers to take two wickets.
