The spring competition, which is played over three grades (A, B and C Grade), commenced in September and concluded this week with the top two teams facing off in grand finals while all other teams played for minor placings.
In the A Grade competition (Monday night), team Tomic defeated team Nadal by 5 sets to 3 with the highlight of the grand final being the match-up of Sean Basile and Brian Humphries.
Basile and Humphries were the third ranked player for their respective teams, and nothing could separate them over their four sets of doubles, all of which were decided by tie-breaks with each playing winning two.
In the other sets, Brad Williams, Andy Martin and Jo Hall, along with Basile, did enough to claim the win over Tom McInnes, Paul Wells, Humphries and David Poole.
In the B Grade competition (Wednesday night), team Yonex claimed the victory over team Head with a five sets to three win which all came down to the final set of the night.
Coming into the final set four sets to three up, Yonex had to claim victory to guarantee grand final glory.
While it was a very tight tussle, Yonex proved their class with a 6-5 win in a tie-break set, giving Karen Armstrong, Judy Knapp, Allan Blanch and Michael Temesvary the victory over Stuart Eckford, Graeme Wallace, Ben Pardw and Bev Chippendale.
In the C Grade (Thursday night) grand final, the team of Richard Clarke, Zoe Stoneman, Tanya Maxwell and Irina Musat defeated Paul Handsaker, Jane Keys, Ronnie Shanks and Ryan Rooke on games 28-22 after they won three sets apiece.
Players are asked to enter their names for the next competition with teams and draw to be organised in January 2018.
Don’t forget that January is Australian Open season so we hope to see a number of newly-inspired players on the courts.
