The rain did not deter the diehards with a good roll up for the Western Plains WA1500 Shoot at the Dubbo Pistol and Small Bore Rifle Club on the weekend.

It was difficult shooting personal bests in the ordinary weather but many tried and some succeeded and the class of the high-profile competitors on hand shone through.
Peter Brus of Orange was the star of the show and walked away with six High Master wins. It came as little suprise with Brus having previously won world WA1500 titles alongside his father, Dean.
In terms of full results, Brus won the High Masters title in the WA1500 Pistol.
Martin O’Brien (Muswellbrook, Master), John Liston (Temora, Expert), Tony Picker (Gulgong, Sharpshooter) and Rodney Loftus (Tamworth, Marksman) were other WA1500 winners.
In the WA1500 Revolver, Brus again won the High Master. Max Wicks (Orange, Master), John Liston (Temora, Expert), Robert Gardiner (Gunnedah, Sharpshooter) and Kevin Wiseman (Gosford, Marksman) were other winners.
Brus shone in the WA60 Open as well while local Paul Williamson won Master while fellow Dubbo shooter Allan Davidson was third. David Jaeger (Gunnedah, Expert) and Rodney Loftus (Tamworth, Sharpshooter) also won.
It was the Brus show in the WA60 Distinguished Pistol while Marnie Jones (Gulgong, Master), John Liston (Temora, Expert), Tony Picker (Gulgong, Sharpshooter) and Rodney Loftus (Tamworth, Marksman) impressed.
Gulgong’s Jones claimed the WA60 Distinguished Revolver High Masters win. Graham Keys (Narrabri, Master), David Jaeger (Gunnedah, Expert), Robert Gardiner (Gunnedah, Sharpshooter) and Dave McInerney (Newtec, Open) won too.
WA48 Stock Semi Auto - Peter Brus (Orange) High Master, Martin O’Brien (Muswellbrook) Master, Jabez Nicholls (Tamworth) Expert and Rodney Loftus (Tamworth) Marksman.
Brus took High Master in the WA48 Revolver 4. Williamson (Dubbo, Master), John Liston (Temora, Expert), Robert Gardiner (Gunnedah, Sharpshooter) and Dave McInerney (Newtec, Open) also won.
There was plenty of positive feedback and recently crowned Clubpeople of the Year Terry and Julie Greer were hard at work, as was Margi Stevens.
On Sunday, four contested a 25 Metre Standard Pistol match. Charlie Higgs is consistently shooting high scores and took first with 569 (428, 141). Warren Johnson was Range Officer.
Sunday will be another Standard Pistol match on Range ‘C’ and members must have their licence.
