A good time was had by all at the Women's Club Christmas Party. Thank you to those who supplied the entertainment which was enjoyed by one and all. Thank you to all those who helped in any way with organising the party.
Don't forget to come along to the final bowling day for the year. Come in Christmas attire and stay for lunch.
This is my last report for 2017. Happy Christmas to you all, drive safely and stay healthy. Happy New Year for 2018. See you all when you return on Tuesday 30th January 2018.
WEST DUBBO
Cooper McMullen and Joshua Andriske are the 2017 Minor-Major Pairs Champions after an epic final against John Fardell and Max Low last Sunday.
It was a great match, with the result unknown until the final bowl of the 21st end.
The new champions held on for a 21–20 victory in which the standard of bowls was extremely high.
Col Hume and Frank Rowe took out last Wednesday morning’s social bowls, combining magnificently to triumph over Victor Brook, Warren Brown and Brian Jones.
Later in the evening, John Rodis and Paul Hagarty won the twilights from James Abel and Lloyd Peirce.
The Wednesday twilights commence at 6.00pm, with names in by 5.30.
On Friday morning, Wayne Herd, Bob Bates and Dusty Cooper took out first place. John Fardell and Frank Rowe had to be content with second.
Tomorrow, Friday, the final of the monthly winners for the year will be held for the $300 cash team prize.
Those eligible are: Wayne Herd, John Hausia, Les Ney, Dave Kilsby, Brian Jones, Col Hume, John Davis, Leo Balstad, Mick Strawhan, Frank Rowe, John Fardell, Frank Bartlett, Lloyd Peirce, Tony Leonard, Warren Brown, Les Rea, Ruben Rundle, Bob Bates and Dusty Cooper.
Last Sunday morning’s social bowls and pennant forum was well attended with over 40 players fronting up for the bowls, sausage sizzle and Q&A session.
Bowls’ Manager Anthony and President Brian were on hand to explain to bowlers of the club’s aims for the 2018 season.
The Annual Presentation Night is this Saturday, 9 th December. Tickets are $20 per head, or tables of 8 can be booked ($160 per table).
Tickets include a buffet dinner, drinks and entertainment, and these can be purchased either through Anthony or at the bar. Tickets need to be purchased by Friday.

NARROMINE
Whilst it was pretty quiet on the home front, the same could not be said for our Boys in the Red Trousers who were at full throttle at Wollongong competing in the state finals of the CLUB Challenge event.
In our first match against Scone the boys bounced out the blocks and won comfortably, but then the “ROT” set in as firstly they got thumped by Cabramatta in the Middle match and found the change in conditions for the round 3 clash against Corrimal a “tad” telling.
So no joy but at least the Greens weren’t the problem with all players giving them a A+ rating.
Meanwhile back at home Mother Nature put a “Kybosh” on any chance of the Sunday Morning Chook run getting a start, so it was just the one outing for our troops this week, that being the usual Thursday afternoon jaunt.
With Danny back in the chair after his & Carol’s foray to New Zealand, the matches results were as follows:
On Rink 01 Noel Delboux & Don Sullivan had a comprehensive 29/09 win over Kerry Martin & David Mcnair: On Rink 02 it was the duo of Trent Jacobson & Adam Morrisey who got the “W” defeating Danny Carnivale & Aaron Clark 22/11, whilst in the third Pairs confrontation Clifton Harris teamed up with the Birthday Boy young Peter Cross to edge out Bob Ashdown & Terry McDonald 20/15.
At days end master of ceremonies Danny awarded Noel & Don the prize pool for the day’s best card, with Trent & Adam receiving a small refreshment prize for the next best performed team.
The Jackpot prize pool grew another few shekels as the uncooperative bingo machine failed to find the right number.
This coming weekend the Consistency Singles final between Geoff Anderson & Aaron Clark will be set down for play on Sunday Morning, but as usual if by mutual agreement the boys wish to play at a different time or day over the weekend, then a simple phone call is required so Green Keeper “Buttsy” can organise the playing surface.
Not much more on the bowls side of things happening between now and Christmas, but we will be having a Bowls game, followed by a BBQ Luncheon and the presentation to our 2018 Club Champions of the Prize Money & Certificates on Sunday the 17th December.
A Nomination sheet for the BBQ to help our catering team determine the quantity required has been posted on the notice board and it would be appreciated if you or the Wife, Hubby, Partner & any “Billy Lids” are attending then please plonk your name down sooner rather than later.
President Kevie has organised a plethora of raffles this month with some great prizes to be won.
We will still have our normal raffle nights Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays, but there will be “extras” to win as well this month.
Commencing on Thursday 14th December we will be raffling 25 Hams, then Saturday night in addition to our normal fare, three Hampers worth in excess of $1000.00 will be raffled.
The following Thursday December 21 st , as well as our normal raffle some $2000.00 in Bonus Prizes will also be up for grabs, and of course on Thursday 28th we will be having our usual end of month draw, just in time for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Or you could always delay that party and come along to our New Years Eve party, which will feature “Katts Karaoke”.
So a big month coming up, and whilst not a lot of Bowling action, that is only just around the corner as the Old Notice board saw a few events posted this week, including the 2018 Zone Fours & Triples Nomination forms.
Plus there is also our very own nomination sheet for the 2018 Pennant Season, which hopefully will once again see Narromine field a couple of competitive squads.
Well that’s it for me for another week, why not come up to the “Bowly” and join in the fun.
