The not-for-profit that supports people with a disability claimed the gold at the 2017 Dubbo Chamber of Commerce Rhino Awards.
As a sizable shiny statue arrived at Westhaven’s accommodation branch in Wheelers Lane recently, chief executive officer Christian Grieves, staff and clients enthusiastically posed for a photo.
Mr Grieves said winning the business chamber award had been fantastic.
“When I accepted it what I said was it was such a great acknowledgement of the fabulous work our staff do,” he said.
“And we’ve had a lot of staff talking about winning the Gold Rhino and what it means to them.
“What it does mean is it’s a huge acknowledgement of people’s work they put in every day to looking after people with a disability.
“It’s just so important to be able to acknowledge that hard work that people do, often very challenging work.”
Mr Grieves will be the guest speaker at the chamber’s Wednesday breakfast.
