The Office of Local Government is set to enquire into the termination of former Dubbo Regional Council general manager Mark Riley, Dubbo MP Troy Grant has said.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Mr Grant said his office had received countless complaints regarding Mr Riley’s mutual termination
“My office has been inundated with complaints, in writing, in person and via phone raising serious concerns regarding the manner in which Dubbo Regional Council dealt with the termination of the contract with former General Manager Mr Mark Riley.”

“I wish to advise the community that as a result of their complaints, I have written to and spoken with the Minister for Local Government, The Hon Gabrielle Upton making her aware of the issues and nature of complaints raised by ratepayers.
“In addition to this I have advised the Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council of my referral.”
“The Minister has advised me she has asked the Office of Local Government to make enquiries into the matter to ensure that council complied with the relevant requirements under the Local Government Act 1993, and will advise me of the outcome of those inquiries.”
The Office of Local Government earlier refused to comment on whether it will enquire about the circumstances surrounding the shock departure of Mr Riley from his position.
