Investigations are underway into the cause of a head-on crash which injured two women near Orange on Saturday.
The crash occurred on the Mitchell Highway at Lucknow, 10km south-east of Orange, when an eastbound blue Honda CRV and a westbound white Nissan Pulsar collided in the westbound lanes shortly after 3.45pm on Saturday, police say.
A 19-year-old woman driving the Pulsar suffered serious head, arm and internal injuries and has been flown to Westmead Hospital where she has undergone surgery.
Police have reported her condition is serious but stable. She is believed to be from Tahmoor.
The driver of the CRV, a 57-year-old woman from Orange, was treated at Orange Base Hospital and released after suffering minor injuries.
Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and are now appealing for anyone with dash cam vision or information about the crash to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Mitchell Highway was closed in both directions just before 4pm on Saturday following a crash between two cars.
A four-wheel-drive and a small sedan were involved in the incident.
Paramedics, police, Orange’s Fire and Rescue NSW crews and Lucknow’s Rural Fire Service volunteers were called to the scene about two kilometres south-east of Lucknow.
A driver in one of the cars was trapped following the crash before being freed by firefighters.
The driver is believed to be female and suffering from head, chest and arm injuries.
The Toll paramedic helicopter was called to the scene to airlift one of the people involved in the crash to Orange hospital.
The helicopter landed on the highway and remained there as paramedics worked to assist the driver who was trapped.
Traffic heading towards Bathurst was diverted down Beasley Road and Whiley Road.
