Dubbo Regional Council is holding the event in its car park between between 9am and 12pm. Roads and Maritime Services authorised fitters will check and fit restraints as well as answer questions.
Council’s road safety officer Jayne Bleechmore said it was a great opportunity for parents and carers to check they were using a child restraint that met Australian standards and was appropriate for the child’s height.
“Equally important is how the restraint has been secured to the car seat. The road can be a dangerous environment and correctly fitted child restraints give little ones the best chance of surviving a crash,” she said.
Ms Bleechmore said Seatbelt Saturdays were a way for parents to ensure they were doing the right thing for their children, while also giving them peace of mind.
Due to its high popularity, bookings for Seatbelt Saturday this weekend are essential. Call Dubbo Regional Council 6801 4000.
