A message from Principal Kerry Morris.
Another exciting year is drawing to a close at Dubbo’s St Johns College with 2016 proving to be a year of quality education for our students, with impressive results across the college both inside and outside the classroom.
Two teams in Stage 4 & Stage 5 mathematics competed in the Mudgee Mathematical Minds Challenge with 21 teams from 16 different schools attending. We had a very rewarding competition with our Stage 5 team successful in achieving first place, and the Stage 4 team securing a top three finish with third place.
Year 11 TEAMS students competed in the National Competition that focuses on Engineering Aptitude in Mathematics and Science, and were placed first in the Bathurst Diocese
The Agriculture Livestock Exhibition Team had an outstanding year attending the Dubbo Show, Royal Canberra Show, Sydney Royal Easter Show, and the Brisbane Royal Show. The team was rewarded with Grand Champion and Reserve Champion titles at most venues, and at the Sydney Royal Easter Show the St Johns College team was declared the ‘Most Successful Exhibitor’.
After a busy start to the year our Year 12 students hosted a Charity Golf Day in May, and succeeded in raising $10,000 for their chosen local charity Dubbo Emergency Accommodation.
The college was also fortunate enough to host the Regional World Skills Hospitality Competition in October. St Johns Year 11 student, Olivia Budden, was awarded second place in the Commercial Cookery competition and will now compete for a place in the national competition to be held in Sydney in 2018.

It also proved to be a fruitful year for our staff with Mrs Natalie Polak achieving national teaching accreditation at the Highly Accomplished Level. She was presented with a medal acknowledging her achievement by the Honourable Rob Stokes, NSW Minister for Education, at a NESA Awards Ceremony in Sydney. Mrs Polak was also voted in as an Executive Member of the Australian Curriculum Studies Association for the next four years which is an honour and the St Johns community is extremely proud of her achievements.
Most recently an induction ceremony was held for our 2018 College Leaders. During the ceremony the parents of the College Captains and Vice Captains, and SRC Captains and Vice Captains, were invited to the stage to present their children with their badge of office.
