A message from Principal Toby Morgan.
Dubbo North Public School (DNPS) aims to develop students values and skills for responsible citizenship and life-long education. Programs are carried out within a caring and educational environment by a staff of dedicated teachers with positive child-centred aims.
The welfare of all stakeholders including students, staff and parents is considered with the aim of “Skill with Honour by being Responsible, Safe and Respectful learners.”
This year has been another busy and successful year at Dubbo North Public School. Fortunately we were able to retain the majority of our existing staff, which always makes it easier to kick off a new school year, however we also picked up some fresh faces throughout the year.
Infants’ classes were engaged in the Early Action For Success initiative and enjoyed learning to spell by applying ‘Speech, Sound, Pics’ methods. The Primary students employed Daily 5 and explicit teaching in their classrooms, and all of these programs have seen students achieve excellent academic growth in 2017.

On the sporting field we were proud to have students represent the region at District, Western and State carnivals. We were also fortunate to have visiting NRL and cricket clinics at school, along with participating in PSSA and state knockouts and daily Fundamental Movement Skills sessions in place. A special mention must be made of Deakyn Bailey who represented Western at the NSW PSSA State Athletics Carnival in Term 4.
Dubbo North maintained our African drumming group in Semester 1 and in Semester 2 the program was expanded to include an Infants percussion group and a senior choir, which along with the support of the Macquarie Conservatorium, has been highly successful.
We have also continued our Sistaspeak and Brospeak programs, which teach Aboriginal students about traditional heritage and culture and about future career pathways. Wiradjuri language has also been taught across the school, with cooking classes a focus in the later part of the year.
Add to this very brief snapshot - an extremely dedicated and committed staff and a supportive community, and 2017 has certainly been one to remember at Dubbo North Public School.
