Thieves take any opportunity to steal so don't given them a chance - make it as hard as possible.
- Inspector Dan Skelly
In the 12 months to June 2017 there were 653 incidents of thefts from vehicles reported to police.
In comparison, there were 317 thefts from motor vehicles reported to police in Bathurst during the same time period and 337 in Orange.
The incidents have prompted officers from Local Area Command to issue a warning to the public.
"We appeal to the community to make your property as secure as possible. Park your car in a garage, drive-way, or well lit area of a night. Don't leave valuables in your unattended car,” Inspector Skelly said.
“Thieves take any opportunity to steal so don't given them a chance - make it as hard as possible.”
All incidents are under investigation.
Inspector Skelly said if anyone had information about the car break-ins, or any other matter they believed the police would be interested in, they should call Dubbo Police Station on 6883 1599 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
