While the rain forced almost all games across the three grades to be abandoned before a ball was bowled, a handful of games started before getting called off midway through.
The third grade clash between the Cougars and Blues at John McGrath 2 went ahead and McIntosh’s stunning haul of 6/27, plus a classy knock from Paul Kempston, helped the men in green score a convincing 70-run victory.
CYMS White batted first and was in trouble early at 3/23.
But Kempston then came to the crease and held things together while also helping the score tick over.
He went on to make 73 in his side’s total of 7/156 with the next biggest contribution after that being 26 sundries.
Ben Calder was a standout for Macquarie White and did the damage early before finishing with 3/9 from his eight overs while Mark Scullard claimed 2/25.
Macquarie White made a steady start to the chase but were 2/20 in the sixth over.
Brad Roberts chipped in with 20 but then McIntosh was thrown the ball.
An example of the classic ‘you miss, I hit’ technique, McIntosh bowled stump to stump and got the rewards.
Four of his six wickets were bowled.
Justin Gavin finished unbeaten on 20 but his side fell well short, dismissed for 86.
Jono Marks and Shawn Townsend also took two wickets each.
