Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre (DNC) received 427 nappies from the community in an appeal that was part of a national initiative.
The Nappy Collective sees leftover unused disposable nappies gathered and redistributed to groups that support families in need.
Teagan Martin from DNC said the response had been really good, with a couple of people bringing in full packets, and there had been lots of smaller donations of leftover nappies from people whose child had moved up a size.
There had been a big variety in sizes donated, from newborn nappies to nappy pants for toddlers, Ms Martin, DNC’s local support coordinator for women’s safety coordination, said.
The donated items are making a difference locally.
Ms Martin reported last week she gave a bundle to the Staying Home Leaving Violence program to give to a woman who had a newborn.
While the national Nappy Collective is held twice a year in May and October, DNC would welcome donations of clean and unused nappies at any time, Ms Martin said.
“Babies go through nappies quickly, anyone who’s ever had a baby would know that,” she said.
Nappies, as well as products like baby wash and lotion, can be left at DNC’s reception in Gipps Street.
“We’re not asking for full bags, if people have even three or four nappies, any little bit counts,” Ms Martin said.
