The Tamworth trainer is taking just the one horse to Wellington Jockey Club, Blinkin Fast, who will go from barrier nine in the Barnson Surveyors Class 3 Handicap (1000m).
Blinkin Fast, with three wins and three placings from 10 career starts, comes into the event having run eighth at Tamworth last start, his first run after a month-long freshen up.
Jodi Worley will have the ride in an event which won’t feature Dubbo-trained Larlabrook, who was unplaced in a Benchmark 71 Handicap (900m) at Newcastle on Sunday.
Trainer Clint Lundholm had nominated Larlabrook for Wellington.
While Grills is making the trip from Tamworth, the Bjorn Baker team will be making the long trek west from Warwick Farm.
Baker has enjoyed a huge amount of success at Bathurst in recent times and is now travelling further in the search of more wins.
Baker will have two hopes at Bathurst with Judge Judi looking to back up a last-start win at Bathurst’s Tyers Park while Written In Vain is coming off a third-placed finish at Goulburn.
Greg Ryan, the one who has been in the saddle for Baker at Bathurst, will again have the rides on Monday.
Ryan is well-placed to enjoy another top day in the saddle with three rides also booked for leading Scone trainer Rodney Northam and another for Lundholm.
Spezzatura, who Ryan will ride, appears the best chance of Lundholm’s three hopes at Wellington.
The four-year-old gelding ran second at Dubbo first up from a spell of more than seven months and looks primed to score a breakthrough win in what will be his seventh start.
Speezatura moved forward well at Dubbo and looked set to score victory at one stage in what was a two-horse battle with the Tracey Bartley-trained In Good Time.
Monday’s seven-race TAB meeting at Wellington starts at 2.15pm while the last of the day will jump at 5.50pm.
