More than 500 pages alone will be dedicated to the Planning, Development and Environment Committee.
The committee, comprised of the councillors and headed by Stephen Lawrence, will vote on a range of issues, including if an extension at Club Dubbo should be permitted, plans for Southlakes Estate to include a shopping precinct and a plan for four multi-level terrace dwellings.
Club Dubbo is seeking approval for an upgrade and extension, according to the planning documents.
The plan includes “new indoor and outdoor gaming and TAB facilities and terrace areas” aimed at “maximising views over the Macquarie River and Central Business District to the east”.
During the time the public were invited to comment on the plan, 12 submissions were received. Criticisms were made about the noise, traffic, inadequate parking, anti-social behaviour and the social impacts from adding more poker machines.
One resident wrote: “An extension of the outdoor entertainment area at Club Dubbo which is currently 244 metres southwest of my own outdoor entertainment area is almost certainly going to increase noise levels whenever there are parties or events outside”.
The resident has also complained the lights along the Tracker Riley Cycleway will encourage “an existing criminal element that frequents the path”. Council should not be encouraging all hours access along the river to Club Dubbo, they wrote.
However, despite comments against the plan, it has been recommended for approval for council staff.
