Teams walked kilometre after kilometre, and together they delivered a huge boost in the fight to beat cancer.
The organisers of the 2017 Orana Relay for Life have confirmed the preliminary total has reached more than $48,000.
It was an “amazing” fundraising result to cap off a successful event on October 28-29, chairman Jason Dearmer said on Tuesday.
This week the team and individual award winners were announced.
“We’re really thankful for people’s involvement and the different community groups’ efforts,” Mr Dearmer said.
The hope ceremony had again been “quite moving”.
The funds raised will go to local support programs for cancer patients, survivors and their carers, while also helping the roll out of prevention programs.
