The four-year-old mare is a new addition to Lunn’s stables after arriving in recent months from Simon Morrish’s team at Ballarat.
Without a win in six starts before coming to Dubbo, Duvhess Darla followed up a 10th-placed run at Coonabarabran with victory in the F&M Maiden Plate (1200m) at Dubbo Turf Club.
“I’ve only had her the one start, at Coonanbarabran when she didn’t have any luck,” Lunn said.
“A few blokes paid about $3,000 for her.
“I’ve had her awhile and built her up and I think she’ll go on and win a couple of races and place. She’s no champion but I think she will run 1400m, a mile, and that helps because you’ve got a chance of winning a TAB race.”
Duvhess Darla, ridden by Ken Dunbar, won by two lengths from Sass’N’Twinkle ($6) while Misty Lightfull ($3) was third.
