The rally is part of Box Rallies including the Shitbox Rally, the leading individual fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Founder is Adelaide’s James Freeman whose parents died of cancer within 12 months of each other.
The Shitbox Rally involves teams driving cars worth less than $1000 on dodgy roads for thousands of kilometres.
Cars in the 2017 Mystery Box Rally must be older than 25 years with their drivers learning their daily destination each morning. Many of the cars are decorated to a theme.
The rallies’ have raised more than $12 million.
Teams, including Dubbo’s Ann-Maree Chandler and Jonathan Schloeffel, are expected to stay in Dubbo before and after the rally that starts at Dubbo Showground on November 25 at 8am.
The public is invited to “wave them off.” Donations for teams can be left at www.mystery-box.com.au.
