After scraping into the elimination final courtesy of a bizarre Duckworth-Lewis inspired win over New South Wales, Victoria was completely outclassed by the Redbacks, losing out by 176 runs at Hobart's Blundstone Arena.
The Redbacks’ victory was inspired by Jake Weatherald’s second ton of the tournament, a stunning middle order blitz and then a commanding bowling performance from national hopeful Daniel Worrall, who secured his first List A five-wicket haul.
Tremain was solid enough with the ball in the win, his figures of 0-65 from nine at an economy rate of 7.22 were actually some of the more flattering numbers as South Australia piled on 5-339.
He did what he could to try and inspire a late-order comeback as well, making 27 from 31 balls after coming to the crease at 6-118 in the 26th over, but by then the game was all but gone.
Weatherald belted 116 from 121 balls to inpsire the Redbacks’ massive total after being sent in, combining with Alex Carey (92 from 107) in a 212-run opening stand which went a long way to taking the game from the Bushrangers.
A swashbuckling, 68-run, fourth-wicket combination from Travis Head (29 from 16) and Tom Cooper (59 from 24) then catapulted South Australia to 5-339.
Needing almost seven an over from the get-go, the Vics stumbled, slumping to 5-85. Matt Short (30) tried to steady the ship but when he was dismissed Tremain entered the fray at 6-118.
