The seven-year-old returned to winning form when scoring at Forbes last weekend and that combined with the rain around late this week has Stanley feeling optimistic.
“He got back in grade a bit (at Forbes) but it was good he got the cash and he’s been a terrific little horse and he does like a wet track and things just hand’t been going his way in terms of that lately,” he said.
“But he’s consistent enough and has been a great little horse for us. He’s got 10 wins from 61 starts and a fair few placings and he’s won $90,000 for us so any horse that can do that is a good one.”
There’s some speed expected early in the Saturday’s feature event at Narromine Jockey Club but Stanley isn’t too concerned by that.
Prattler ran home well at Forbes to claim victory and that ability, plus the expected conditions and a low weight all points towards a positive run.
Prattler was given the bottom weight of 54kg and that is offset even more with apprentice Robbie Dolan to have the ride.
Dolan has ridden just once for Stanley before, piloting Girl Most Likely to a third-placed finish at Dubbo Turf Club in what the trainer called a “perfect ride”.
The Mack Griffith-trained Murranji is expected to jump as favourite after runs at Scone and Gosford this preparation.
Prattler is one of four hopes for Stanley at Narromine and the trainer is hopeful of getting a result in the Aquawest Irrigation Class 2 Handicap (800m).
He will have both the promising Coroglen and the returning Gillie Mooch in the sprint.
Coroglen, to be ridden by Kody Nestor, has impressed since moving from Peter Nestor’s stables and has scored a win and a fourth in two starts for Stanley while the trainer was thrilled with Gillie Mooch’s trial at Mudgee when returning on September 30.
Racing starts at 1.11pm at Narromine with the Dandy Cup at 4.18pm.
