The Total Native DVD was inspired by Rob’s lifelong love of fishing for Murray Cod and Golden Perch, drawing on his experience as a fishing guide, and also the biggest library of native fish footage in Australia.  Rob and his team ventured out with local anglers in many different areas including the Central West, and covered various native fish topics such as giant Murray Cod lure fishing in impoundments, river fishing with both bait and lures, and grass roots tactics and tackle essentials.

Along the way Rob caught up with the Dubbo Catches team, and Bathurst’s Ken Smith to film a detailed segment on Murray Cod and Golden Perch fishing in the upper reaches of the beautiful Macquarie River.

The DVD also includes incredible and rare footage such as Golden Perch spawning, a 1.2 meter long Kayak caught cod, another giant cod that tried to eat a 3 kg golden perch, and the country’s biggest ever cod captured on fly, being a 1.2m plus behemoth that turned on an epic fight. Sustainable fishing themes are evident throughout each of the 6 chapters and there is also a chapter on bush safety. The local lake continues to fire, with some absolutely huge spring catches of Redfin and Golden’s coming across the desk of Dubbo Catches. Those sounding schools of Redfin off points have often found some oversize Yellowbelly hanging around in the middle of the school, feeding vigorously on juvenile bait fish size Redfin around 60mm to 90mm in length. Sebastian Dunn enjoyed an evening’s lure casting on the lake late last week and found bulk Redfin to almost 3 pounds in weight, and also caught and released a super-sized Golden that measured in at an impressive 60cm on the nose.
