Branch manager Peter Irwin said about 200 people came through on the day.

“We saw it as a huge success,” he said.

“We thought it would be popular with families… so we were very encouraged with that response.”

The Science Fair also saw the launch of the Library’s new ‘discovery kits’, which from next week members will be able to borrow.

On the day participants could check out the discovery kits which include a telescope and microscope, as well as coding, lego and the robots.

“The day was a great demonstration of the changes to the library, which not only encourages literacy and learning, but science,” Mr Irwin said.

“It’s great to see children getting enjoyment from these kits and playing and learning as they do.”

Mr Irwin hopes that with the success of the first Science Fair it can be held annually.

The Dubbo library will also be hosting a ‘Little Bang Discovery Club’ for children aged from Kindergarten to Year 1.

Mr Irwin said the aim of the Club is to develop ideas and skills that inspire further scientific exploration, discovery and learning.

A parent/carer attends with their child so that they can assist and because there is a home learning component to the course.

When parents book in they are making a booking for the entire four week course.

The four week course will run every Tuesday from October 24 to November 14, between 3:30pm and 4:30pm and bookings are essential.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
