The parade, one of the major highlights of the DREAM Festival, will be held on Saturday.
Council’s sister city officer Kylie Sutherland said two lanterns had been designed to represent Minokamo in Japan and Wuijang in China.
“Council’s formal relationship with both cities has been established for more than 20 years,” Ms Sutherland said.
“This year’s student exchange groups will be participating in the DREAM Festival Lantern parade.
“They will be carrying the lanterns which have been designed to represent the Minokamo city symbol, a hydrangea, and the Wuijang ancient bridges and lakes.
“The hydrangea lantern has more than 600 individual florets on it.”
