Unplaced at all six starts since moving from Queensland stables, Basic Strategy struck winning form for Dubbo trainer Dar Lunn on Saturday when taking out the Gulargambone Cup (1200m).

Basic Strategy was well ridden by Dubbo jockey Paul Payne who, until last week’s Coonamble meeting, had taken a break from racing.
Running near last inside the final 200, Basic Strategy ($15) rushed home to beat Gilded Spirit ($8) by a length with Long Lasting ($15) a handy third, while strongly-supported Majaska ($2.70 favourite) finished well back.
Another galloper returning to form was the Cec Hodgson-trained Prettylittlefellow in the Halccroft & Bennett Benchmark 45 Handicap (1450m).
Slowly away and then travelling wide, Prettylittlefellow (Vad Bolozhinskyi, $2.60 favourite) ran home gamely to score from Bel Attrait ($6.50 ) and Cordon Rouge ($12).
Prettylittlefellow is raced by Bill Porter from Carinda and Ken Waterford from Come-By-Chance.
Second leg of a winning double for Vad Bolozhinskyi was the Brian Young, Dubbo trained Blitzableiter ($9) which gained an inside run from fourth to beat Butterfly Sky ($5) and Cuban Lass ($7) in the Geronimo Farm Equipment Benchmark 49 Handicap (1800m).
Other winners on Saturday were Ma Chao (Chris Williams, $4), trained at Dubbo by Garry Lunn, the Graham Brooker-trained Bridget's Star (Clayton Gallagher, $3 favourite) and Nino (Chelsea Ings, $6) from the Peter ‘Wacky’ Pennell stable at Carinda.
