In her last seven starts of the 2016/17 harness season, Smooth Mace won three races and finished no further back than fourth.
He has subsequently finished out of the placings in two runs at the strong Eugowra carnival, but will start from barrier one in the IGA West Dubbo Pace (2120m) on Sunday.
While Sunday’s race is a slight drop in grade, it still features a number of well-performed pacers.
Tom Pay will take the drive on the Steve Turnbull-trained Brocks Under Fire, while the Brett Hutchings-trained pair of Homestead Lad and Cankickatarget are both handy on their day.
Cankickatarget hasn’t raced since winning at Parkes back in July.
Six races are set down for decision at the paceway, with the first at 1:58pm and the last scheduled for 4:55pm.
