The show is set around four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra on sale, come to find they have more to share than ever imagined.
The cast makes fun of their woeful hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges.
A sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realise that menopause is no longer “the silent passage”, but a stage in every woman’s life, which is perfectly normal.
Ms Nicolls, who worked on the television show Prisoner and Blue Heelers, said she hopes audiences enjoy themselves, but also realise just how important the women in our lives mean to us.
“There’s a song in there where the daughters are singing about how critical their mother’s are to them, but then at the end they realise they really appreciate their mother,” she said.
“You take your mum for granted, we all do because we think they’ll always be there… but this show helps celebrate mother’s as well as having a laugh at the ‘journey’ (of menopause).”
The hilarious musical parody is staged to classic tunes from the 1960s, '70s and '80s.
A performance will be held at Dubbo in November and Ms Nicolls said she was looking forward to starting the tour, something which she hasn’t done since 2009.
Ms Nicholls said menopause is a taboo subject, but that the show lets audiences let go of that self obsessiveness and have a good laugh.
“It’s just lots of fun,” Ms Nicolls said of the show.
“And it feels great to be a part of the silliness of it all.”
Ms Nicolls said while mainly women made up a large proportion of the audience, she husbands there too.
“You do see a lot of husbands come along.. but they all have a good time,” she said.
The tour kicks off on November 1 and continues until mid-December, but Ms Nicolls said she was looking forward to getting out into the communities of each City they visit.
“I love the freedom of being on the road and I love seeing the countryside and meeting the community,: she said.
