A large audience of legal professionals and their partners heard from Judge Dyson Heydon QC AC.
His visit to Dubbo was at the request of the OLS .
The judge’s address took place at a dinner after the OLS annual general meeting where president Andrew Boog was re-elected.
“You don’t see many High Court judges venture this far west,” Mr Boog told the crowd at the Quality Inn.
On the High Court for 10 years from 2003, the judge entertained the crowd with humorous anecdotes.
He also spoke appreciatively of the work carried out by solicitors across NSW and Dubbo.
Judge Heydon said they were “skilled in avoiding trouble before it arrives or solving it when it did arrive”.
Among the crowd was NSW Young Lawyers vice president David Turner, of Sydney. He travelled to Dubbo to attend the official statewide launch of an electronic guide to the city for new solicitors, written by Melissa Mastronardi .
