Representatives from Mission Australia, headspace and the Aboriginal Child, Family and Community Care State Secretariat were just some of the people on hand to speak to customers, Centrelink staff and other providers about what services they could provide, and how to access them.
Indigenous Service Officer Dawn Towney said Centrelink was the perfect location for the open day, because “the majority of our customers access these services on the daily”.
“We put our hands up to host an event here … so that our staff and our customers know how to access these services and what they're there for, and understand their referral processes,” she said.
“Our customers access them when they're out in the community, and … [it’s about] understanding how we can collaborate together to best help our customers.”
NAIDOC events are on throughout the week. Visit www.dailyliberal.com.au for a list of events.
