The Muller Park Tennis Club has been fundraising on behalf of families affected by cancer for more than 20 years through its Grahame Priest and Warren McLennan Memorial Charity Day.

This annual event will be held again on Sunday and all proceeds will go to Camp Quality Western Region.

Thousands of dollars have been raised in recent years to help out those families in need in the local area.

Muller Park Tennis Club president Paul Roe is urging anyone to take part at the court between 11am-3pm on Sunday with there being much more than tennis matches on offer.

“Some excellent prizes have been donated by local businesses for our raffle and for the second year running the Bourke community has contributed a really nice package of accommodation and tourist activities,” Rose said.

“Last year’s winner thoroughly enjoyed his visit out west.”

Families will be catered for on Sunday with kids games and prizes and tennis for all skill levels. A barbeque lunch is on for a small cost and the main prize draw will come at afternoon tea at 3pm.

The cost for the day is $10 for adults and $5 for children and as Roe stated it is a great way to help out those families in the region who are affected by cancer.

Anyone seeking more information can contact Robyn Roe on 0427722983.

The club is also honouring long-serving sponsor and Club Patron Tom Toohey at the moment.

Toohey has generously backed the club for 20 years and all involved have been keen to show their gratitude with “community-mindedness like his is an inspiration” a line used to describe him.

Grant and Leonie Thompson of HillRoss have enthusiastically stepped up this year as Toohey retires and the club was keen to state it is most appreciative to see those two take on the role.

In other news at Muller Park Tennis Club, all invovled have been thrilled by the work of coach Bob Hough.

An experienced campaigner, Hough gained high-level recognition when achieving a huge amount of success while coaching at the Kendall club and all those at Muller Park feel fortunate to have someone of his calibre helping out a small, community-driven club.

Hough has started coaching at Muller Park with a keen group of youngsters but he is avaiable to coach all ages.

Anyone who is keen on learning from Hough can contact 0400446085.

The Grahame Priest and Warren McLennan Memorial Charity Day action at Muller Park, located at Brisbane St North Dubbo, starts from 11am on Sunday with all those intending to attend asked to bring sunscreen and a hat with high temperatures expected this weekend.
