The best way to ensure you fill up with the cheapest fuel before you head off these holidays is to do your research, says the NRMA.

On Wednesday, the average price for unleaded petrol in Dubbo was 128.8 cents per litre. However, the minimum for fuel was 127.7 cents and the maximum was 130.9.
The cheapest unleaded petrol was at United Petroleum Dubbo, closely followed by Caltex Woolworths.
When looking farther afield, the most cost effective petrol was in Cowra at an average price of 126.2 cents per litre. Blayney topped the scale at the mos expensive, coming in at 135.4 cents.
Bathurst had one of the biggest discrepancies on Wednesday between their cheapest at 117.9 cents and most expensive fuel at 155 cents per litre.
If you’re prepared to travel a short distance fill up in Wellington. The cheapest in the town was 121.9 cents, however the highest was 134.7 cents.
NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury said anyone who was traveling should download the free NRMA app to ensure they were getting the best offer of the day.
The app provides details of the cost of petrol throughout Dubbo and the region to keep consumers informed.
“If the people of Dubbo go to the servo that’s selling it at 127.7 cents than all the other servos are going to have no choice but to drop the price,” Mr Khoury said.
“A 7.5 cent saving is good on any day of the week, but it’s even better when you’re filling up a full tank and that money you save at the bowser can be spent on a holiday.
“The power is in your hands.”
Without doing research first you could end up paying 155 cents instead of 117.9, Mr Khoury said.
