Two lovebirds in Dubbo have a mantelpiece covered in congratulatory messages including one from Queen Elizabeth II.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove  and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian are also among signatories to cards marking a special occasion.

Allen and Margaret Currey are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

The long-time residents of Dubbo met at a dance at Ballimore, where they couldn’t take their eyes off each other.

The shearer and Western Stores shop assistant were married at Holy Trinity Anglican Church at Dubbo on September 14,1957.

Five sons and three grandchildren later, they are still enamored of each other.

A walking stick does not prevent Mr Currey from helping his adoring wife out of her chair.

They know how to make a marriage work and recommend it to others.

“I think you have to work together, do things together,” Mrs Currey said.

The couple’s family is returning to Dubbo for a party at the Quality Inn on Saturday night.
